Frequently asked questions...

Who are we?

  • We are football players and cheerleaders from North Haledon, Haledon and Prospect Park from Kindergarten to 8th grade.

When does practice start?

  • Practice starts on July 18th  for most squads and is Monday thru Thursday from 6pm to 7:30pm sometimes 8pm, throughout the summer.  All practices are held at the Manchester High School practice field.

What do I need to provide for my child?

  • All the football equipment and uniforms for both football and cheerleading are provided except cleats and protective cup for the football players and white on white sneakers - for games, briefs, and turtlenecks for the cheerleaders.  This information is provided to you during registration.  All equipment and uniforms must be returned at the end of the season.

When does the season start?

  • We start our season with a Pep Rally on Friday, Sept 9th and our first game is Home on Sunday, Sept 11th.
  • We host 5 games this year.  All of our home games are at the Manchester High School Football field.
  • All games are either on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning.  A complete schedule with be provided in July.  The season is over the weekend of November 12/13th for the Superbowl.
  • We play Ringwood, Totowa, Butler and Bloomingdale BBYC, West Paterson, Little Falls, and Lincoln Park.  Parents are responsible for getting their children to all games.  We do not provide transportation.
  • We have a Homecoming game and ceremony where we recognize our graduating 8th grade football players and cheerleaders.
  • We have an awards dinner at the end of the year for all the football players and cheerleaders at the Brownstone.

Why the late fee in July?

  • This year we had 6 registration dates as opposed to 3 registration dates in years past. The late fee was discussed and voted on in the January parents and board meeting. Its purpose was to serve as an incentive to have the parents register their children during registration instead of when practice starts on the field. We are trying to get the registrations in before practice starts so that we could be sure we have enough equipment in the right size and uniforms for the children. This was a huge issue last year and there were a lot of parents upset because we could not provide the correct equipment for their children in a timely manner ~ some parents even went out and bought their own equipment so that their sons could practice. We currently have 2/3rds of the total amount of registrants from last year so we are already working on ordering everything we need to prepare for the start of the practice season on July 18th. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but our hope is to be able to make this a more organized, better prepared season. We have actually changed the late fee to $25.00 per family as opposed to per child.

Anything else I should know?

  • This year we will be forming competition squads for the A and B Squad Cheerleaders.  Cheerleaders will have to try-out for the competition squad.  Competition is held in December.
  • All our participants are eligible to receive a $500.00 scholarship to the college of their choice in their Senior year of High School just for being part of our program.  Applicants would have to submit an essay on "How being a part of a team has made a positive impact on your life."  We choose one graduating football player and one cheerleader every year.
